Under normal circumstances, kidneys prevent significant amounts of protein from passing into urine. However, damage to the kidney’s filtering units (glomeruli) can cause excess protein leakage, a condition known as proteinuria. The 24-hour urine protein test provides a more accurate assessment compared to a single urine sample, as it accounts for daily variations in protein excretion.

Why is the 24-Hrs Urine Protein Test Done?

This test is commonly recommended to:
